Décor 2 Ur Door prides itself in making your bedding unique and a reflection of YOU!  Let's get started!

1.  Comfort - Those dorm mattresses are often...how can I say it?...rough and uncomfortable and covered in plastic. Start by getting a great mattress pad.

2.  I suggest a topper such as a thick memory foam or a feather bed.  Hint...buy the extra cover for these as the toppers themselves can't be laundered and accidents
happen!

3.  Once you've decided on the bed height, add a bed skirt to hide all the "stuff" under your bed. The better you organize under the bed the less work you'll have later hunting for all of your "stuff".

4.  Now for the bedding... I have found that you LOVE duvets. They offer the ability for you to easily change them out and launder them.

5.  Get a duvet insert.  I find the poly fill to be the more affordable and allergy resistant. And girls like the lighter feel and fact that they hold their shape better.

6.  Once you've filled your duvet (or added the comforter if your prefer) add the CUFF for a stylish finish!

7.  Get great sheets!! Many people like the softness of the jersey knits, or cotton sateen's.  We offer a full range of thread counts.

8.  Now for the pillows.  As you'll spend a lot of time STUDYING in your
room, so make sure you have great comfortable pillows as your bed will often butt up to the cold cinder block walls.  Load up with comfortable pillows. You will love the flexibility of reversible D2D pillows and their invisible zippers make it so that they can be easily cleaned or switched out!  These are FUN!

9.  Add comfy blankets!! Carefully coordinated.

1.  Clean up and disinfect the place.  Get out the bleach.
2.  Decide on furniture placement.  Talk with you roommate and get a game
     plan that works for you both!
3.  Try different layouts.
4.  Make sure you get the most of your space...begin with bed risers.
5.  Throw down rugs once you get your furniture placed where you want it.
6.  Add your window treatment.  Possibly remove closet doors that can be
     cumbersome and replace with fun, fabric drapes.
7.  Organize the closet, use crates and space under the bed to the max!
8.  Attack the walls. Add your bulletin boards, wall monograms, and vinyl photo
     frames. This is the fun part!

Teen’s room has a bad case of the blahs? Need a face lift? Overhaul?

Before long it will be Christmas. What in the world do you get your daughter? How about the gift of a room makeover?

This does take some time, so get the wheels turning now. Begin by isolating a theme or favorite color palette.

She probably wants a more sophisticated look. Hot trends are the animal prints...yes they are STILL very popular and don’t show any signs of decline. Damasks in dramatic black and white is huge!

Mix your patterns. Try blending zebra with damask patterns. Accent with hot colors-aqua, lime, pink. Your teen will love her hangout space.

Consider a small love seat- make or buy a slipcover to update and bomb it with cushy pillows. Cool lighting is a must. String Christmas lights around the room for ambiance.

Go to Goodwill or salvage shops and find furniture to transform. Go to you local scrapbook store and find great papers. Use Mod Podge to affix your selected papers to the furniture tops or drawers for great interest and style. Find a great rug to add warmth and comfort. You did it! You're at college. Now to make your new room… YOURS!

Below are several tips to add personality and punch to those dull dorm walls.

1. Wall Monograms… Place your monogram over your bed to show off it’s your space!
2. Add color to those walls.. I know.. you can’t paint.. but you can still add color and make your room warm and inviting. Try adding 2” ribbon borders to the walls. Attach with command tabs or double stick tape.
3. Add photos, bulletin boards, sayings for inspiration, and painted canvases for design flair.
4. Add colorful plastic tablecloths for color panels. Cut it to the size you want and affix it with doublestick tape.
5. Surround yourself with what you love to make your space a reflection of YOU!

Be bold. Think outside the box..

6. Try taking a pool noodle, cut it in half lengthwise and affix it to your dorm wall. This adds color and becomes an instant pincushion to hang photos, frames, etc.
